Recorded Media Ministry
(Sound & Video Department)

If you have a hard time hearing the service...

To assist those who have trouble hearing our services, we have installed a low power FM stereo transmitter in the Sanctuary. It carries the same audio mix used in recording our services to DVD/CD. This transmitter is tuned to 90.5 FM, and may be received by a personal FM radio or radio-equipped MP3 player using headphones or earbuds. The transmitter is located upstairs in the video booth. For this reason, the best, most reliable signal is received at the back of the Sanctuary and in the overflow rooms (upstairs and downstairs). If you need assistance tuning your radio to the transmitter, please ask an usher for help.

This is our C. Crane Low Power FM Stereo Transmitter.
It's digitally tuned and locked on frequency.

Services on DVD

The Sound and Video department is making DVD's of our Sunday services and special events. There will normally be a DVD of the 8:15 and 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. services. Most special events held in the sanctuary will be available on DVD. The 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. sermon portion of services are available on CD. We do not routinely record weddings or funerals (arrangements to do so must be made in advance). By special request we can still make audio cassette copies and VHS video tape copies (allow at least a week for the copy to be made). CD's of special music can be made by special request (allow up to two weeks). Please fill out the "DVD Request" form (tear-off portion of the Sunday bulletin) or stop by/call the church office to submit a request form for copies of services. Suggested donation for CD's/DVD's is $2 each. This helps recover the price of blank disks, disk envelopes, and the high-speed duplicator (see below). Please check the DVD/CD request basket in the outer church office window for your requested copies. Most requests turned in on Sunday are available by Wednesday.

What's the difference?
DVD's are movies of the services and can be watched on your TV using a DVD player, or on your computer or laptop using it's DVD equipped drive. If you want to watch the service or hear any of the special music, you want a DVD.

CD's are audio only, and can be played at home or in your car (if so equipped) using a CD player, or on your computer or laptop using it's CD or DVD drive. CD's may also be listened to over your TV. Most home DVD players will play an audio disk. If you only want to HEAR THE SERMON, you want a CD.

Our high-speed CD/DVD duplicator has eleven computer-type drives which can burn ten CD copies in about five minutes, ten DVD's in about fifteen.  CD's and DVD's are much cheaper than cassette and VHS tapes, and the quality is higher.  Our old cassette tape copier takes 10 minutes to make three copies.  VHS tapes must be copied in real time (a one hour service takes one hour to copy) and we can only make two VHS copies at a time.  We can make 40 rehearsal CD's for the choir in under 25 minutes!

PLEASE NOTE:
Occasionally we get a bad blank DVD disk, but don't find out until part way through a service or afterwards when the disk needs to be finalized. In any case, there's no way to tell ahead of time, and that entire recording is usually lost. This rare problem is, of course, totally out of our control.
